HOW MUCH DOES A BABY SEE?
A baby can distinguish light from dark and can see gross objects, but it will be some time before much focusing and consistent alignment occurs. He can see fairly clearly at eight to twelve inches from his face. A newborn infant prefers the human face and his focusing distance is about the normal distance you hold him/her during feeding. Eye crossing is normal in newborns, but should nearly disappear by two-three months of age.
